Confession: I have fallen out of love with makeup palettes

-

Hey everyone, today I’m making a confession: I have fallen out of love with makeup palettes. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the art of makeup anymore, but rather that my relationship with makeup palettes has changed over time. Let me explain.

Makeup palettes were once my go-to for creating a variety of looks. They offered a convenient assortment of colors, allowing me to play with different shades and experiment with different styles. However, as my makeup collection grew, I began to realize that I wasn’t getting the most use out of these palettes.

One issue I encountered was the limited shade range within a palette. Often, there would be a few standout colors that I reached for frequently, while the rest of the shades gathered dust. This led to a lot of wasted product and a lack of customization. I found myself wanting more flexibility to choose individual shadows or blushes that truly matched my mood and outfit.

Another factor was the size and portability of makeup palettes. They can be quite bulky and take up valuable space in my makeup bag or on my vanity. Travelling with multiple palettes became a hassle, and I started to prefer smaller, more compact products that were easier to carry around.

Moreover, the trend of releasing countless limited-edition palettes started to feel overwhelming. With so many new releases coming out constantly, it was hard to keep up and justify the purchase of every new palette. I began to question whether I really needed yet another set of similar colors when I already had similar shades in my collection.

That’s not to say I’ve completely given up on makeup palettes. There are still some that catch my eye and offer unique combinations of shades. However, I’ve become more selective and intentional with my palette purchases. I now look for palettes that have a well thought-out shade selection, high-quality formulas, and versatile options.

Instead, I’ve shifted my focus to building a collection of individual eyeshadows, blushes, and highlighters that I can mix and match as desired. This gives me the freedom to create custom looks that are tailored to my specific needs and preferences. I also discovered the joy of palettes that offer a curated selection of essentials, such as a neutral eyeshadow palette or a bronzer and highlighter duo.

So, if you too have found yourself feeling less enamored with makeup palettes, know that you’re not alone. It’s okay to embrace a more minimalist approach or explore different ways of using and collecting makeup. Personalization and quality over quantity have become my new mantra.
